Brevard is a city in Transylvania County, North Carolina, United States, with a population of 7,609 as of the 2010 Census. A moderate climate, environmental beauty and cultural activities attract relocators to the area. The official dog of Brevard is the West Highland White Terrier, and the official rooster is the Silkie. Brevard is also known for its white squirrels. There are several theories of how the white squirrel came to live in Brevard. From an overturned carnival truck to someone keeping it as a pet and then having that pet escape and breed with other squirrels.〔()〕 Brevard is also located close to the DuPont State Forest. A waterfall in the forest, Triple Falls, was used as a filming location for ''The Hunger Games''.
